Eating Charcoal

I have heard of many weird and wonderful ways to improve your health, but I was a little stumped when I heard about eating charcoal as a way to detox your body!

Of course, it is not your every day charcoal that you pick out of your campfire, but clean ‘activated’ charcoal. Activated charcoal is commonly used in emergency treatment for specific kinds of poisonings and drug overdoses to keep the poison from being absorbed from the stomach into the body. Charcoal is also used to cure gas/flatulence and help an upset stomach. A tiny amount of charcoal can adhere to a large number of molecules, ions, and atoms and absorb poison quickly.

Eating charcoal desserts has become quite popular in Japan also. Check out this charcoal take on a cream roll:

You can buy charcoal tablets at the chemist, which is made from plant-based charcoal…not the industry toxic stuff!

Here is a video about the benefits that charcoal can have for our health -

    Hi Katrina,
love your new lease on life. You and Kirk must be on cloud nine without all that gluten and other fake stuff in your bodies. Congratulations on establishing your blog. I have a very similar approach to food in my home as I also have a gluten and dairy intolerance and have raised Darcy and Riley on similar diets to mine. I would hate to think how their behaviour might be if I relented and gave in to the western pre-packaged, highly chemical based diet!! Scary enough on a good day let alone on a chemical induced one. Anyway, the charcoal concept is something that I have just discovered myself and have found amazing. Their is a market stall called Happy Farmers at the Pineapple markets and the people that run it have recently started selling big pieces of Malaysian white charcoal which actually looks black though. It has a huge amount of applications and you can get about half a kilo for about $5.00. I have used it in two of my wardrobes to deodorize them and I could not believe within a matter of hours the smell was absolutely neutralised. I also am using it in my drinking water to alkalize it and make it safer for drinking as well as in cooking my rice to give it extra energy. It can also be placed in a basket next to the computer to absorb all the bad energy that you may receive when working on it for extended periods of time. They have an info sheet at the market stall for you if you are interested in all the health and home applications for the charcoal.

    Cheers
    &
    Happy New Year

Hi Natasha, thanks for your comment. I could learn a lot from you about health! I wish we had more opportunities to chat. Thanks so much for sharing about the charcoal at the Big Pineapple. I am definitely going to check that out. I haven’t been to those farmer’s market yet as we usually go to Yandina, but I am going to make a point of going there these holidays…and pick up some charcoal too. Hope you and the family are well & have a wonderful New Year! (please say hi to Darcy for me :) ). xx
